Following the challenges of the times, the community of Pavliani with sense of responsibility and respect to the local society, has published this tourist guide, so both Greek and citizens of the world will have the opportunity to know the village. it is sure that the visitors of Pavliani will be impressed not only by it's natural beauty but also by the the kindness of its people.  Our visitors will escape from every day stress letting themselves relax in this natural mountainous environment, something they need so intensively. A trip to Pavliani will prove the best travel choice thanks to it natural beauty and the warm companionship of its inhabitants

Pavliani is a mountainous idyllic village situated in the south part of Fthiotida within the area of Fokida, having access to the second entrance of the National Woodland of Oiti. 

Upon entering the village you come to the: Monument of battle at Pavliani

The monument is to all those, Greeks and Italians, who died in the battle of Pavliani in June 1942

Staying in Pavliani, visitors have the chance to organize long or short trips up the mountains and visit sights like:
  • "Fire of Hercules"

  • National Forest of Mt Oiti. 

  • The Ravine of Asopos 

  • Kouvelos Castle. 

Ancient Temple of Hercules or Pira Irakleous

This is the place that Hercules was trying to be released by the poisoned cloak and he fell in the flames There are fulcrums of columns, parts of entablature and triglyphs which belong to a Dorian temple of the 3rd century BC, with nave. To the South of the Temple there is the altar, which was used continuously from the archaic period till the period of the Roman Occupation, when the extension of the initial outline and its delimitation with stones. The temple was dedicated to Hercules.

National Forest of Mt Oiti

After journeying thru magical landscape, visitors to Pavliani will reach a really worth seeing National Woodland  of Mt Oiti, a unique ecosystem in Greece. At the same time they discover a place of rest and entertainment, where they can feel a strong respect for Nature and realize the important influence of the environment on human beings.   

The Ravine of Asopos

Apart from the National Park of Oiti, the visitor can admire a unique Greek Natural Park in the spring of Asopos. The visitor will be swept of their feet following a splendid path, where the colors of the perennial trees and of the water are reflected, which lead to the heart of the natural park.

"Kouvellos"

At Kouvellos one will meet special flora and fauna unique to mount Oiti. and the remains of the ancient Castle 

From the fist moment visitors can appreciate the generous hospitality and kindness of the people of Pavliani.

Visitors can also drink a cup of coffee in the traditional cafés admiring the view of the marvelous landscape down to Maliakos Gulf. Finally they have the opportunity to taste the delicious local cuisine as well as the traditional sweets in the taverns in Pavliani.

  • Old Primary School

The parish church was built of stone in 1860. It has bell-tower and interesting internal decoration.

Old Primary School

The stone Primary School is a monument of traditional layout. A characteristic of the community is the sovereignty of two materials: the Stone and the timber in the built-up growth
